Can I get ftp to work while connected to vpn?
Currently having to connect for company ftp and other work, disconnect any time I want to upload to webhost.
Is there any way around this??

Sure you can try to use FTP on VPN. 000webhost allows it 
If you want to upload with size < 25MB you can use our builtin File Manager.
